Our Favorite Northwest Wedding Venues
In the Northwest, we’re lucky to live in a region with so much natural beauty — it makes the perfect backdrop for outdoor weddings and events.
And after serving hundreds of customers with their restroom needs from the Canadian border to the California border, we have some Northwest venues we’re quite fond of. Here’s a roundup of some of our favorites.
The Red Barn Farm, Redmond, Washington
One of several working farms that host events in the region, The Red Barn Farm is our favorite. Founded more than 100 years ago by Gary Cooper’s uncle (yep, small world), it was a working dairy until the 1960s, when they changed to raising beef cattle.
Current projects include the restoration of a 100-year-old heritage apple orchard and the pursuit of organic certification for the entire farming operation.
The property includes a gambrel-roofed hay barn built in 1925, followed by a grain silo and milk barn built in 1953. The barn was recently restored as it was in a state of imminent collapse.
Vista Hills Vineyard, Dayton, Oregon
This 42-acre, LIVE certified sustainable vineyard sits in the Dundee Hills Wine Country in Dayton, Ore. The property is located between Domaine Serene to the east and the Willamette Valley to the west, thirty-five miles southwest of Portland. This is some of the most sought-after viticulture terrain in the region.
And with ten years of experience as a full-service event venue, they’re ready to handle anyone’s “big day”.
Mt. Hood Organic Farms, Mt. Hood, Oregon
Another working farm that excels at hosting events is Mt. Hood Organic Farms. Their roots go back to 1904, but the present owners started the transition to fully organic in 1981, receiving the area’s first official certification in 1989.
Today, they produce 87 varieties of apples, pears, and quince. Recently, they have teamed with a cidermaker to expand their offerings into hard cider.
The farm insists that clients work with their ‘preferred’ event team, including Cultivate Catering with Ginger Power and day-of-event management by Cassandra Cass Coordinating.
Bloedel Reserve, Bainbridge Island, Washington
You won’t find a venue with more variety and beauty than the Bloedel Reserve on Bainbridge Island. The property was a private home for thirty years before being donated to the community in the 1980s as a community garden. It opened in 1988 as a 150-acre public garden and nature preserve.
Today, the reserve hosts a wide variety of community and private events, including a creative residency program for artists. More than 30 artists from a variety of disciplines have taken advantage of the unique opportunity.
And That’s A Wrap!
With our experience serving weddings from the Canadian border to the California border, we’ve come to know a thing or two about great places to get married.
And no one has the experience we have providing the most elegant wedding restrooms you’ve ever seen. Give us a call and we’ll tell you more!
Better Outdoor Restrooms For Events Began With A Near Disaster
An inauspicious beginning now means you’ve got a range of choices in quality outdoor restroom rentals. As Kasey Salvetti began to plan her outdoor wedding, she was astonished to find that it was a choice between smelly Porta Potties and the nearest bush. Afterward, the decision was made to found Privy Chambers — now the largest provider of luxury outdoor restrooms in the northwest.
And we’re not just making weddings a “nicer place to go,” we’ve brought a new level of cleanliness, comfort, and service to outdoor restrooms for corporate events, movie shoots, store remodels, and farm-to-table dinners.
A Different Kind Of Company
We’re proud to be a local, women-owned business, and we’re fortunate to have the wise counsel of more than 100 years of portable sanitation experience on our Executive Team. Today, we look back on the last seven years and realize that now we’re the largest provider of luxury restroom trailers in the entire Northwest! From facilities in Portland, Seattle, and Spokane, we service customers from the Canadian border to southern Oregon.
There may be others in the field now, but we continue to lead the way with the largest service area, the largest fleet of models, and we’re still the only vendor that offers fully ADA-compliant restroom trailers and services every installation daily.
A Commitment To Higher Standards
We also lead the field by ensuring that our services comply with all relevant environmental regulations, and we’ve adopted the “green” standards recommended by the PSAI (Portable Sanitation Association International).
Every one of our trailers is custom-designed to our exacting specifications. And that includes water-saving features that mean each flush is only 0.33 gallons, versus 1.6 gallons for regular toilets. Even the paper products we stock our restrooms with are 100% recycled for minimal impact on the environment.
A Distinctly Better Choice
You can be sure that we’ll take care of all the details, including beautiful floral centerpieces; we provide all paper products, hand soap, and even an iPod for the built-in sound system. We are licensed to pump our own restrooms in both Oregon and Washington (you’ll want to double-check, most vendors are not).
It’s not just the level of luxury in our restrooms that sets us apart; it’s our commitment to take care of everything and do it right the first time and every time. Contact us and let us know how we can help.

Event Planning Guide To Great Northwest Venues
Local event planning professionals know that few areas are as blessed with beauty as the Northwest is. And when you’re looking for an event venue, the area has some of the nicest and most unique choices you’ll find anywhere. Here are some of our favorites.
Union/Pine: Rustic, Flexible Event Space
- On the main floor, which can hold nearly 300 guests, the flexible layout is divided into a ‘sunken living room’, a middle bar area, and an open back room.
- Upstairs, they offer The Loft, an intimate space great for smaller groups up to twenty.
Event Planning Pros Fly Into The Aerie at Eagle Landing
Combining event space with outdoor recreation is a proven formula that these folks have down pat. Boasting a variety of indoor and outdoor venues with capacity up to 300 guests, The Aerie combines that with a tree-lined miniature golf course and now a brand-new soccer golf course — all in a stunning Willamette Valley location.
For indoor events, the Grand Ballroom handles up to 150, while the Library is perfect for more intimate occasions up to 50 attendees.
Flexible venue design allows for doors joining the garden and ballroom to be opened so larger events can be held easily.
And there are additional outdoor options: when set up, the Marquis Tent holds 100 guests in comfort with heating and removable walls; the Cave offers rustic fire pit seating for up to 125.
A Whimsical Fairy Tale Venue
If you’re looking for a unique and memorable venue for your next event, you simply can’t do better than Troll Haven on Washington’s famous Olympic Peninsula!
Located at Bandy Farms, a true working farm, Troll Haven spreads over nearly 200 acres on the shore of Discovery Bay and is filled with unusual art, a variety of event venues, charming homes available for rent, and a u-pick orchard full of the northwest’s bounty.
Choose whimsical and fun for your next event, and give Troll Haven a call.
Or…Host An Event At A ‘Castle’
Not everyone gets to visit a castle, but if you choose Thornewood Castle for your next event, that’s where you’ll be! Located just south of Seattle and Tacoma in Lynnwood, Washington, this is the real thing.
From bricks shipped around the horn from a 400-year-old Welsh castle to formal gardens designed by the famed Olmstead firm (the same firm that designed New York’s Central Park), throw in 16th-century stained glass windows, and this is the closest you’ll get to medieval England.
And for guests weary from a great event, Thornewood has beautiful rooms available, too!
Cast Your Cares Away At Castaway Portland!
Located in the popular Pearl District in downtown Portland, Castaway Portland is an industrial warehouse carefully restored to its former glory.
Besides the close-in location, the venue offers 14′ ceilings and an outdoor patio that can be integrated into your event.
Event Planning Means Taking Care Of The Details
While you’re choosing the perfect venue for your next event, remember to consider your guests’ comfort! For outdoor events and larger gatherings, you should be thinking about the restroom facilities.
With the largest fleet and largest service area in the Northwest, your friends at Privy Chambers are the one call you need to make for the finest portable restrooms you’ll find anywhere. Give us a call today at (503) 939-5872!
Compliance In Event Planning : All Vendors Are Not The Same
Your business plays by the rules, and compliance in event planning is no different. It’ll give you peace of mind if you know that your vendors comply with applicable laws. And it can create significant liability for your firm if they do not. When it comes to sanitation facilities for your event, it’s particularly important.
In everything from licensing and permitting requirements to regulations on the handling and transportation of waste, to offering facilities that are accessible for all your guests, you’ll want to ensure your vendor is fully compliant.
Here’s what you should check and how you should do it.
Valid Licenses And Permits
Depending on your local jurisdiction, a number of types of licenses and permits may be required to operate any business, not just a portable sanitation provider.
Business Licensing
In most areas, for-profit businesses are required to have a business license and can face severe consequences if found to be operating without one. However, often the permits are expensive, and less-than-reputable businesses choose to go without. All too often, they get away with it because governments simply don’t have the money for enforcement.
State Business Registration
An even simpler requirement that is often neglected is business registration with the Secretary of State in each state where a firm intends to conduct business. Yet it’s surprising how often vendors don’t even bother.

‘Over The Road’ Permits And Inspections
There are a variety of licenses, certifications, and inspections required for commercial equipment on the road. The federal Department of Transportation requires annual safety inspections on all commercial vehicles over 10,000 pounds, and the certification sticker that comes from passing their inspection. Further, the law requires that drivers maintain a hard copy of the inspection in their vehicle’s file for a period of 14 months.
There may be additional requirements for commercial vehicles, depending on the laws in your local jurisdiction.
Legal Handling Of Waste
The proper and legal handling of waste requires additional licenses and permits. At a minimum, your vendor must be certified by the federal Department of Environmental Quality as a sewage hauler.
Best practices in the industry are established by the Portable Sanitation International Association (PSAI). Ask your vendor if they’re a member of this prestigious professional group.
Providing Fully Accessible Facilities
As an event planning professional, you’re probably quite familiar with the requirements of the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). Making your event accessible for everyone is not just good planning, it’s the law.
A critical place to ensure accessibility is in your event’s restroom facilities. Be sure to ask your portable restroom supplier if they offer fully ADA-compliant restrooms. At Privy Chambers, we’re proud to be the first supplier in the Northwest to offer a variety of fully ADA-compliant restrooms.
Dealing With A Truly Professional Vendor
When choosing vendors to supply your events, you want to work with ‘above-board’ professional businesses. One of the best ways you can assess what kind of business you’re dealing with is to ask to see their permits, licenses, and proof of sufficient liability insurance. (They should carry at least $1,000,000 of general liability insurance).
Vendors who are not fully licensed may actually represent a legal liability for your business, should you decide to engage them. Not only will good vendors be more than happy to show you their licenses, but they’ll also be happy you did. They know the extra costs they bear to run a legitimate and safe business and welcome customers who know the difference!
At Privy Chambers, we’re proud to be the Northwest’s leaders in portable restrooms for every event.
- 100% licensed and certified in Oregon, Washington, and Idaho
- Members of the PSIA
- Have the area’s largest fleet and service area
All together, you have the professional vendor you’re looking for!
